Principle :- Potato Carrot Agar is recommended for the cultivation, maintenance, conservation and reproduction of fungi specially Actinoplanes awajinensis , Actinoplanes nirasakiensis , Amorphosphorangium auranticolor , Streptomyces flavus, Pyronema domesticum and Thermoactinomyces vulgaris. The media is composed of carrot infusion form, potato infusion form and agar. Potato and Carrot provides the natural nutritional contents required for the growth of fungi. The media contain necessary nutrients, minerals and vitamins which limit the growth of organisms, and providing only those nutrients essential for the existence rather than their growth. The restriction in growth leads to spore formation as compared to mycelium growth. Agar acts as a solidifying agent.

Use :- Recommended for maintenance, sporulation and conservation of fungi.

Potato Carrot Agar – HX-MEDIA – Hexa Biotech

Directions :- Dissolve 24.0 grams in 1000 ml purified / distilled water. Heat Potato Carrot Agar to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes. Cool to 45-50°C. Mix well and pour into sterile Petri plates.

Specimens types analyzed :- Agricultural and food samples.

Precautions to be taken :- These microbial media are intended for the in-vitro use only. All the handling, experiments, storage, and discarding should be performed with the help of trained and experienced technicians and as per the established guidelines. The material should be disposed only after proper sterilization by autoclaving.

Performance and Evaluation :- The expected performance of the medium is liable to use as per the direction on the label when stored at optimum conditions and within expiry date.

Storage and Shelf Life :- Hygroscopic; keep container tightly closed. Store at temperatures below 30⁰C and dry place. Expected performance when stored at optimum conditions and within expiry date.

Disposal :- To avoid the contamination or propagation of any hazardous microbes used, unusable or modified preparation of this product must be disposed after autoclaving or incineration after completion of task.
